History

Boromarajonani College of Nursing, Sawanpracharak Nakhonsawan (BCNSPRNW) can be divided into two campuses; Sawanpracharak Campus and Nakhonsawan Campus.

Campus 1: Boromarajonani  College of Nursing, Sawanpracharak


 

            Boromarajonani College of Nursing, Sawanpracharak (BCNSPR) is located at 45 Atthakawi Rd., Pak Nam Poh, Muang, Nakhon Sawan. BCNSPR is large approximately 12,800 square meters.  BCNSPR is the sixth nursing college being under  Praboromarajchanok Institute for Health Workforce Development, Ministry of Public Health. BCNSPR was established and proceeded by Mr.Yian Phothisuwan, an ex-Nakhon Sawan Governor and Dr. Sophon Nakphairat, an ex-director of Sawanpracharak Hospital, in order to generate the nurse according to the requirement of Ministry of Public Health.

            On  May 12th, 1970, initiated in the name of Midwife and Health School, the first generation of 50 students who graduated in the 3rd year of the Junior high school in 4 year-programme, were rolled. They were given the diploma after graduation.

            In 1971 , the curriculum was changed, the 2nd year  of high school students in 3 years 6 months- programme were enrolled.

            In 1974, the name was changed into Sawanpracharak Nursing College. Miss Rachit Nikhomrat was the director in 1976.

            In 1981, the first generation of 75 students in provisional nursing and midwife programs, in addition, 50 students in continual program, were enrolled.

            In 1994, Somdet Phra Srinagarindra Boromarajonani was  kind to give a new name for the college under Ministry of Public Health: Boromarajonani College of Nursing, Sawanpracharak Nakhonsawan, since March, 1994.

            In 1995, Educational Development Department in the Institute for Health Workforce Development improved the curriculum in the name of nursing certification (1994 edition) and aimed to enhance people’s quality of life in communities.  It was used from academic year 1995 to 1997.

            In 1996, King Bhumibol Adulyadej gave Ministry of Public Health his royal permission initiating a new name of the institute, Praboromarajchanok Institute, named after Prince Mahitaladhibes Adulyadejvikrom Praborommarajchanok  in order to realize the prince’s graciousness. Prince Praborommarajchanok  has set a progression basis of medical service, nursing and public health in Thailand. The name was changed on January 3rd, 1996.

            In 1997, Ministry of Public health did an agreement of collaboration with Naresuan University about supply the students in nursing and public health programme. Consequently, both campuses of the nursing college had collaborated with Naresuan University from academic year 1997 to 2003. The college has changed to join the university in curriculum instead of supply collaboration in academic year 2004.

            On October 1st, 2001, the nursing college of Sawanpracharak supplied the students in a certification of emergency medical service programs from the first to the fifth generation. (22-30 students per a generation)

Campus 2: Boromarajonani College of Nursing, Nakhonsawan

 

            Boromarajonani College of Nursing, Nakhonsawan (BCNNW) is located at 157/1 Phahonyothin Rd., East Nakhon Sawan, Muang, Nakhonsawan. BCNNW is large approximately 24,000 square meters.  BCNNW is one of seven college of Department of Family Health, Department of Health, Ministry of Public Health. BCNNW was initiated together with Mother and Child Health Center Region 6, Nakhonsawan. In the name of Nakhonsawan Midwife and Health School which was a department of this school.

            On June 1st, 1983, the first generation of students in 2 years-programme, was enrolled in a public health (midwife) curriculum.

            In 1986, administration structure was improved and the name was changed into  Nakhon Sawan Health Promotion Center Region 6.

            In 1987, the curriculum was changed  into the curriculum of nursing and midwife certification (primary level), which need to educate for two years.

            In 1992, the curriculum was improved into the curriculum of nursing certification (primary level).  This curriculum was used from 1994 to 1999.

            In 1994, Somdet Phra Srinagarindra Boromarajonani royal gave a new name for the college under Ministry of Public Health, Boromarajachonani College of Nursing, Sawanpracharak Nakhonsawan, since March 1994.

            In 2000, the college first set a new programme, Bachelor Degree of Nursing Science (continual). There were 50 students.

            In 2004, Dr.Wanlop Thainua, an under secretary of Ministry of   Public Health, act on an act of government administration regulations 1991 in section 21, about gathering both colleges; Sawan Phracharak and Nakhonsawan, becoming one college in the name of Boromarajonani College of Nursing, Sawanpracharak Nakhonsawan (BCNSPRNW) since January 13th, 2004 and the offices are located at the same places of both colleges.
